The youth ministry of the Parish of St. Benedict, Youth Alive, was able to send 14 delegates to the most recent catholic youth gathering- WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008- in Sydney, Australia.

The delegates attended a pre-WYD conference in Brisbane, Australia where they were able to meet different young people from around the globe and share with them their experiences in Youth Ministry, their life as a young Christian and many more. They also attended seminars here which tackled topics like Priesthood, Serving God as Men and Women, The role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, etc. One of them even attended a leadership forum which is a meeting of all of the Youth leaders in the World and they talked about collaboration and techniques in handling the talents of the Youth for a more effective youth ministry.

In the World Youth Day celebration, the delegates are so fortunate to be invited to be part of the boat convoy that will guard the Pope's boat as he enters Barangaroo through the Sydney harbor. Our delegates proudly displayed the Philippine flag as the Pope gave them a warm smile and  a big wave of his arms! (Not to mention some of our delegates cried at this point)
